How she got here

Two things at once

Iyesha came to permanent makeup from two directions. She is creative, and she likes making people feel good about themselves. Five years in, the work still sits between the two: part design, part craft, part someone in a chair telling you the thing they have never liked about their own face.

Enhancing what you already have, rather than replacing it.

What she offers is deliberately narrow. Brows, lips and eyeliner, all of it soft and natural, and nothing that announces itself across a room. The aim is that people notice you look well, not that they notice what you have had done.

Credentials

Qualified, licensed and insured

Three of the four below are about safety rather than technique. Cosmetic tattooing puts pigment under someone's skin, and the parts of this job that go wrong are usually not the artistic ones.

  • VTCT Level 4 Micropigmentation
  • VTCT Level 3 Anatomy and physiology
  • VTCT Level 2 Infection prevention
  • Kirklees Council Licensed for semi-permanent skin colouring

Fully insured. Every appointment includes a patch test.

The way she works

What actually happens

An appointment runs to about three hours, and a good part of that goes before any pigment does.

  1. A patch test first

Done ahead of the appointment to check you do not react to the pigment. It takes a couple of minutes and it is not optional.

  2. A proper consultation

What you want, what will actually suit your features, and what is realistic for your skin type. Nothing is decided before this conversation.

  3. Mapping, then your approval

Your shape is measured and drawn on. You see it, you say if it is not right, and it gets moved until it is. No pigment goes anywhere near you until you have agreed the shape.

  4. The treatment itself

Numbing cream first, topped up as it goes. Around three hours start to finish, worked slowly rather than squeezed in front of the next booking.

  5. Aftercare, and a way to reach her

You leave with written instructions and Iyesha's number. Healing takes a few weeks and it is normal to want reassurance in the first one.

Away from the chair

Mum of two, and rarely sitting still

Which is where a good deal of the sympathy for a morning routine you do not have to think about comes from. The rest of her time goes on walking, the gym, mountain biking and the occasional festival.

Ready when you are

Come and have a chat about it

Every appointment starts with a proper consultation, and there is no shape drawn on until you have agreed it. If you would rather ask something first, that is entirely fine.
