Iyesha came to permanent makeup from two directions at once. She is creative, and she likes making people feel good about themselves. Five years in, the work still sits neatly between the two.
The studio is deliberately unhurried. She would rather you felt comfortable enough to be yourself than politely sat through it, and she trains regularly because the techniques keep moving. She is a mum of two as well, which is where a good deal of the sympathy for a shorter morning routine comes from.

After a bad experience with microblading which I found extremely painful, I came to Iyesha to have my eyebrows redone. She is absolutely amazing, the experience was enjoyable and pain free. She corrected the shape and I'm totally in love.

Does permanent makeup hurt?
Most people find it far more comfortable than they expect. A topical numbing cream goes on before Iyesha starts and is topped up during the appointment. Most clients describe it as a light scratching rather than pain, and several have said it was easier than microblading they had done elsewhere.
How long does permanent makeup last?
Between one and three years, depending on your skin type, how much sun the area gets and how well you follow the aftercare. Oilier skin tends to fade faster. Most clients come back for a colour boost somewhere between 12 and 24 months to bring the shape and tone back.
What is the difference between microblading and powder brows?
Microblading cuts fine strokes into the skin with a hand tool. Powder brows are applied with a machine and build up a soft shaded finish, closer to how brow product looks than to individual hairs. Powder tends to heal more predictably, holds better on oily skin and is gentler on the skin than blading. Iyesha works with a machine across powder, hairstroke and combination brows.
How should I prepare for my appointment?
Avoid caffeine, alcohol and any blood-thinning medication for 24 hours beforehand, since all three make the skin bleed more and can affect how the pigment settles. Come with clean skin and no makeup on the area being treated. You will get full instructions when you book.
What does healing look like?
Expect some redness and mild swelling on the day, then light flaking over the following week as the pigment settles. The colour looks noticeably darker at first and softens considerably as it heals. Judge the result at four to six weeks, not at four days. Iyesha sends you home with aftercare guidance.
How long does an appointment take?
Allow three hours for a full appointment. A good part of that is the consultation and mapping your shape, which is drawn on and agreed with you before any pigment goes in.
Do I need a patch test?
Yes, always. A patch test is carried out ahead of your appointment to check you do not react to the pigment. It takes a couple of minutes and it is not optional.
